Fees

Fees at the Duque Uribe firm are determined transparently in consultation with the client—following their acceptance of our quote— and in accordance with the ethical standards of the legal profession.

The firm will always recommend the fee structure best suited to the client and the specific case at hand.

A fee agreement will be drawn up between the firm and the client to formalize the services provided and the method of remuneration, which may take the following forms:

“Time-based” fees: The fee amount is calculated based on the time spent by the lawyer
and their hourly rate. When this method is adopted, the firm informs the client of the estimated number of hours required to handle the case and provides an itemized record of the time dedicated to the matter upon request.

Fixed fees:
In this scenario, a set amount is paid for the entire proceeding. This fee structure is particularly well-suited to cases where the firm can estimate in advance the time required to handle the matter.

“Success” fees:
When expressly provided for in the fee agreement, additional remuneration—contingent upon achieving a specific outcome for the client—may be added to a “minimum” fee
(based on a fixed amount or a set number of hours). However, a success fee cannot constitute the lawyer’s sole form of remuneration.
