International criminal law and general criminal law

Criminal law governs the repression of offenses, from their detection to judgment and the execution of sentences. Police custody allows a suspect to be detained for the purposes of the investigation, while the investigation aims to gather evidence under the control of a judge. The cases are then judged by the tribunal correctionnel or by the assize court for crimes. Finally, the sentencing law determines the nature, delivery and application of sanctions, including in an international context.

Immigration law

Immigration law governs the conditions for entry, stay, and removal of foreign nationals in France. It governs the issuance and renewal of residence permits.

It also governs the processing of asylum applications. If France does not consider itself the responsible state, a Dublin transfer order may be issued to the state responsible for the asylum claim.

In the event of a residence permit refusal or irregular status, the authorities may issue an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF). Administrative detention may be ordered to ensure the enforcement of removal measures.

Labor law

Labor law governs the relationship between employers and employees throughout the course of the employment relationship. It regulates the performance of the employment contract by establishing the rights and obligations of the parties, particularly regarding remuneration, working conditions, and discipline. It also governs the termination of the employment contract—whether resulting from dismissal, resignation, or mutual agreement—while ensuring the protection of the employee’s rights.
